Hi! This is SilverSnow. Today, since it’s New Years, I’ve prepared a DIY tutorial to transform old sweaters with simple stitches using wool thread. Let’s go and make a small, cute tulip, shall we? Go Go! Begin by threading a needle. You can use the Chenille needle that fits wool thread, or a tapestry needle if you don’t have one. Put your needle on top of the thread, and wind the thread twice around your needle to create a knot. Cut the rest of the thread short for a neat look. Let’s begin with bullion stitch. Begin from the starting point. Work a stitch with the desired length for a bullion and push your needle towards the starting point. When doing this, be sure NOT to split the thread and leave your needle hanging on the fabric. Take the thread to your right, and put your finger under your needle. Wind the thread around your needle five times. To keep the loops in order, hold them with your left hand and pull your needle out with your right hand. Flip it over, so that the bullion stays on top of the fabric. And, insert your needle back to the ending point for a cute, chubby straight line. Once done with the middle, wind the thread six times to work a longer straight line on the side. Wind six times for another one on the opposite side. In other words, wind five times for the center, and six times for each line on both sides. Note that those lines on the side are a little longer. Now you’re done with cute petals of the tulip. Simply make a knot at the back. Do NOT cut it right away; take your needle through stitches at the back so that they stay anchored tightly. Cut the thread after anchoring. Let’s work right on the sweater now. Likewise, wind five times for bullion in the middle and wind six times for the rest of both sides. Note that, all starting points at the bottom of the petals should stay as close to each other as possible, so that they are gathered together. For the top part though, let the petals spread out by working bullion stitches into a small triangular shape. Anchor them tight at the end. Now, this is going to be very simple. Just simply work a straight stitch. Note though, bring up your needle and insert your needle towards the petals. Otherwise, the previously-made petals may be pulled out through the fabric. Keep the right direction when working straight stitch. Last one is lazy-daisy stitch. Bring your needle up right beneath the straight stitch. While inserting your needle back to the starting point, take a short distance on the fabric. Bring the thread behind the needle and pull your needle out. Once done, let’s anchor the loop. Insert your needle right outside of the loop to secure the loop. Work the same for the opposite side. Let’s work it on the sweater now. Anchor it tightly at the end. You’ve just finished making a very lovely sweater with such simple stitches. Recently, quite a lot of fashion brands are producing embroidered knitwear. As I really wanted to get one, I made it myself before buying it in the store. 😉 I wish that with this tutorial, you can use simple stitches to DIY your sweaters; and while doing so, I wish you greet another great, happy new year. Again, thank you for watching till the end today. See you again next time! Bye~♡
