Diaper rash can be scary for parents and
extremely irritating for your baby But, if you keep watching the video you will
learn how to prevent a diaper rash Are you scared your baby is going to get a
diaper rash? do you want to know how to treat it? Or prevent it altogether then
keep watching The first time my baby had a diaper rash just like every new mother
I panicked too. I wasn’t sure what had caused it or if I had done something
wrong that made it spread After I checked with my baby’s doctor I
discovered that a diaper rash can be caused by a number of things basically a
diaper rash is red inflamed skin It appears as reddish marks around your
baby’s bottom and thighs Your baby’s skin is very sensitive if a diaper’s too tight or if you leave your baby in wet or unchanged diapers for too long and
even chafing can cause a diaper rash you will also notice that your baby will
become more irritable and will start crying if there’s any contact with the
diaper area So here’s what helped me prevent and treat a diaper rash in my
little one Clean and dry One of the most common causes of a diaper rash is a wet
diaper a simple tip is to make sure that the diaper is dry at all times it’s a
good practice to change diapers every three hours you may also need to change
the diaper at night to help the rash clear up if your baby is having a diaper
rash you may go through as many as eight diapers in a single day Talc free powder Talc powder was one of the most popular ways used to keep the baby’s skin dry
smooth and rash free that was until some studies found a link between terminal
cancer and the use of talc For babies talcum powder can cause respiratory
problems and can also be poisonous if inhaled or swallowed there are so many
ills associated with using talc as an ingredient that’s why I use talc free
dusting powder from Mama earth which is made of organic kitchen ingredients like corn starch arrowroot powder etc this means you can
still help prevent rashes and keep your baby’s skin dry as well as smooth diet Diet your baby’s diet plays a major role in a diaper rash if she urinates too often
and the acidity level in her stool is high then this could lead to the
formation of her rash things like too much juice and citrus fruits are also the
culprits so if your baby has been soiling herself too often then altering
her diet could help prevent the rash I usually follow the Brat diet which
consists of banana rice applesauce and toasts it is also important to give her
plenty of water to drink which will make her urine less concentrated Get rid of the diaper Get rid of the diaper To prevent a rash all your baby needs is some time without a diaper
exposing your baby’s skin to air ensures that the skin stays dry just make sure
to place a towel or any absorbent cloth underneath her to avoid any messy
accidents Use warm water Another handy tip to prevent rashes is
to use warm water every time you rinse your baby’s bottom you could either use
a regular bathing tub wet towels or even baby wipes make sure you’re gentle also
do not use anything that has fragrance or contains alcohol as it may cause
further irritation on your baby’s skin instead you could use a mild fragrance
free soap Don’t tighten diapers if you tighten your baby’s diapers too much you
will prevent any airflow in the diaper area moist environments are what rashes
thrive on so make sure you secure it but leave a little slack so air can pass
tight diapers also cause a lot of chafing around the waist and thighs Make sure to keep your hands clean Keep your hands clean Probably the most overlooked but important point make sure every time
you change your baby’s diapers you’re washing your hands thoroughly your hands
can carry the rash to other parts of your baby’s body as well as to your
other children To Treat A Rash How to treat a diaper rash Simple home treatments are all that are required to get rid of that pesky rash make sure you
change the diapers regularly leave the diaper off whenever possible use a good
diaper rash cream to treat the affected area when choosing a rash cream for your
baby opt for products that contain zinc oxide non petroleum product works best
protect the healthy skin with a moisturizer to prevent the rash from
spreading however this cream shouldn’t be used on
the rash affected area as it may slow down the healing process When to see a doctor? When to see a doctor? Diaper rashes are usually treated with these simple steps but you should
visit a doctor if you notice the rash is spreading beyond the affected area or if
there is any pus if the rash is getting worse
or if your baby develops a sudden fever immediately visit your doctor Cloth vs disposable diapers I know there is a belief that cloth diapers help prevent
diaper rashes in children however cloth diapers can cause a lot of
problem on their own for example the detergent that you use on the diaper can
irritate your baby’s sensitive skin rashes can easily spread
if the diaper has not been washed properly so if you choose to use a cloth
diaper make sure that you use a mild detergent and wash them often Heat Rashes Summer is here and for your little one
this means the danger of heat rashes they show up as tiny bumps and blisters
on your baby’s skin their caused when kids sweat too much leading to blocked pores
they can be treated by loosening your baby’s clothes keeping her in a cooler
place and bathing her often for older kids heat rash creams are available if
you are using a powder make sure it’s talc free we know how heart wrenching it
is to see your baby in any sort of discomfort but hopefully with these
quick tips you will be able to treat a diaper rash and prevent it from
developing in the future did you like the video thank you so much for watching
