This next technique is for general knee pain
or swelling so if you’re having general achyness in non-
specific or point pain in the knee, this is a good technique to use and so what I’m going to have you do is take a piece of tape
and tear it off the roll and you’re going to tear an anchor down near the logo very good so this application is with your knee bent up
so we’re going to bend up to about ninety degrees that anchor is going to be placed just below the knee
by about about three or four inches so no tension on that anchor, go ahead and rub it
on there pretty good and then let’s just take the paper
backing off we’re going to split this into a Y-strip so go ahead and peel up one of those okay, and you’re going to lay this peice down
with no tension going to be outside part of the knee. Very good, and same
thing with the other piece but know you’re going to the inside of the knee no tension on there I’m going to have you take one more piece tearing that anchor, same way and this time we are going to start the anchor up
higher just between the two pieces that we laid down before okay so again, we’re going to turn that
into a Y-strip by splitting the tape and now you’re going to lay this piece down, with
no tension and going not
necessarily over the other peice you can cross over it though landing the endpoints (the tails) on skin excellent, same thing with the other peice and again laying that down, making sure
there’s no tension so now let’s go ahead and
straighten that knee out and you should see some wrinkling in the
tape. If you do, you’ve applied it properly if there is no wrinkling you may have put too much tension in the
tape, or the knee was not flexed up enough and that is it for general knee pain achyness or swelling.

  1. @kunned You can "tape" a muscle and lift the skin around it. This can remove swelling and also support the muscle. With the elastic properties of the Tape u have protection and stability without sacrifising movement (the classic rigid tape won't allow much movement))….Plus u get so many colours !!!!! Lol

  2. @merson21r ohhh. cool.

can this work for shoulders? i got these to spots i keep ripping in the rotator cuff.

  3. @kunned Yes theres is special applications for the shoulder too…Look for one for suppport rather than muscle relaxation !!!

  4. @madbuf Can you tell us what movements cause the pain? What type of pain? Acute or overuse?

If it's patellar, then we'd recommend the full knee support application. If it's something else, more info needed.

    Thx.

  5. Hi there, I have just ordered some kt tape to help me recover from my knee aches, I would like to know what type of taping to use.

my aches are on the left hand side of my left knee(also lower left side of the knee) , the pain occurs whenever the knee is bent (wether it be while i am running or just some squats) and the pain fluctuates from time to time.

Please could you tell me what kind of taping method i should use to help me recover at a greater rate.

  6. @pandyasohil Based on your description I'd recommend you try the video titled 'KT Tape: Patella Tracking and Runner's Knee'. Sorry I can't link to it- Youtube doesn't allow links. Let us know how it works for you. Thx.

  7. I tried this yesterday and the tape didn't stick, it fell off. I'm very disappointed cause I was in a lot of pain.

  11. We still have some that is split, but all the new tape is not. Check out the link in this video to our newer version. It will show you how to do it without the split.

  12. No. The cool thing about the tape is that it will work even with slightly different variations in application. As long as you're close you will be fine.

  13. It sounds like you may need a custom app. Go to our website and post your question in our "ask an expert" forum and one of our pros will get back to you.

  14. I found mine on ebay. I purchased it from a US seller and the shipment took about 3 days to get to me. It cost about $10 shipped for a 16' roll. I have had two knee surgeries and I am hoping this tape helps with pain and swelling.

  15. We have a store locator on our website that will allow you to put in your zip code and find a store that sells it near you.

  16. Make sure that you clean the skin thoroughly and tape at least 1 hour before you get in the pool. Also make sure you don't stretch the ends of the tape at all. If you do all that you should be fine.

  17. The application you need can be found on our website on the "ask an expert" forum. It's called Chondromalacia Patella. Give that a try and let us know how it goes!

  23. When I sleep at night, I wake (as in, the pain wakes me up 🙂 with pain behind my kneecap. It ruins my sleep every night. Would this method of taping help? I know most will say; "It couldn't hurt", but I am looking for relief for this specific type pain: behind the kneecap.
